We offer undergraduate and graduate degrees that ensure you are trained in virtually every aspect of jazz, including improvisation, history, arranging and composition, small and large ensemble performance, rhythm section techniques, private study, studio techniques, and pedagogy.

As a jazz studies student, you’re required to perform in an ensemble. You’ll have plenty of choices, as we are home to three big bands, the Latin Jazz Ensemble, and many combos. As a bonus, you’re encouraged to put on ad hoc performances with your peers.
