Professor of Music (Musicology); Chair, Department of Musicology
We are proud of our reputation as one of the top-ranked musicology programs in the nation. We offer courses in music of all periods, an outstanding music library, and the resources of a major research university with a comprehensive school of music. But we are also a close, active, and friendly community of scholars.
Our graduate students and faculty members gather almost weekly to present and discuss research for our Musicology Colloquium Series. The Graduate Musicology Association plans numerous get-togethers for the department—for picnics, concerts, or other events. Masters students participate in a Musicology Reading Group to discuss recent literature, while doctoral students find opportunities for close work with faculty and fellow students through our seminars and methods courses.
