We’re thrilled you’re interested in becoming part of the Jacobs community!
Fall 2023 applications open September 1
Step 1: Apply to IU
For admissions consideration, students must complete the application for admission to Indiana University as well as the JSOM Supplemental Application.
Remember to send your supporting materials to IU Office of Admissions to complete your IU application!
- Official transcripts
- SAT or ACT scores, if applicable. IU is test-optional. Visit our test-optional admissions policy page to learn more.
Transfer students must also send their transcripts of all completed college coursework to firstname.lastname@example.org or upload their transcripts to the JSOM Supplemental application by December 1.
If you are currently enrolled at IU, your process is different! You only need to submit a JSOM Supplemental application, and do not need to submit an IU application.
Step 2: Apply to the Jacobs School of Music
Submit your Jacobs School Supplemental Application. The deadline is December 1 and the application fee is $95.
Letter(s) of recommendation and prescreening (if applicable) must be submitted during this stage. Your recommenders will receive a secure link to use to upload their letters after you submit your application.
Special note for international students
After you apply to IU, you must submit supporting documentation to the Office of International Services, including official transcripts and SAT, ACT, and TOEFL scores, if applicable.
Note: IU is test-optional for SAT and ACT scores. Visit our test-optional admission policy page for more information.
The deadline to submit your supporting documentation is November 1.
Additional documentation for transfer students
As a transfer student, you must request transfer release from your current school. Download the Jacobs School of Music Transfer Release Form and have the appropriate official at your current institution complete it and give it back to you. Email the form directly to the Jacobs School of Music Office of Admissions. Please note that no offer of merit-based financial aid will be made unless this completed form is on file.
