Undergraduate orientation provides a great opportunity for you to become familiar with student life and academics at Jacobs and IU.
As part of orientation, you’ll meet with an advisor to register for classes and learn about the many resources available to you on campus. You’ll also have the chance to meet and talk to your new peers.

If you’re starting your program in the fall, you will attend orientation during one of the offered dates throughout the summer. If you are unable to attend these, your orientation will occur one week prior to the start of classes.
For students beginning in the spring or summer, your orientation willl be two days prior to the start of your classes.
Orientation will include activities hosted by IU in addition to Jacobs-specific events.

Ensemble auditions for all instruments and voice take place the week before classes or during the first week of classes, depending on your area. Information is supplied through the department.
Instruments and accessories are available to rent free-of-charge to all Jacobs students through the instrument rental office.
Rent an instrumentLockers are rented to Jacobs students through the facilities office. Due to limited availability, please do not request a locker if you do not need to store your instrument. Lockers are intended for instrument storage only.
