BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music is pleased to announce the appointment of Chi Ho Han as associate professor of music in piano, effective Aug. 1.
Currently based in Germany, South Korean pianist Han remains a unique interpreter across a wide array of styles.
After winning numerous prizes in international piano competitions, he has performed to critical acclaim around the globe with some of the world’s greatest orchestras and was appointed artist-in-residence for the 2023-24 season in Budapest in collaboration with the Budapest Music Center and Korean Cultural Center.
“The Jacobs School of Music warmly welcomes Chi Ho Han to our faculty,” said Abra Bush, David Henry Jacobs Bicentennial Dean. “Our students will greatly benefit from his prolific real-world experience and the unique perspective he will share.”
An active soloist and creative programmer, Han has performed to critical acclaim at the Seoul Arts Center Symphony Festival, Festival Internazionale di Musica da Camera di Cervo and International Klavier-Festival Ruhr, among others.
Commanding a broad range of orchestral repertoire, from the complete Beethoven concertos and romantic standards to contemporary works, Han has collaborated with many orchestras, among them the Austrian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and National Orchestra of Belgium.
