BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Ten faculty members from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music have been chosen to receive the IU Trustees’ Teaching Award for the 2022-23 academic year.

The university-wide Trustees’ Teaching Awards are bestowed before the completion of each academic year to full-time tenured, tenure-track and non-tenure-track faculty who have demonstrated their excellence in teaching.

Faculty applications for the $2,500 award are reviewed by a selection committee of peers.

The school’s 2023 award recipients are:

  • Chih-Yi Chen, senior lecturer in music (collaborative piano)
  • Dominick DiOrio, professor of music (choral conducting); director, NOTUS
  • Jane Dutton, professor of music (voice)
  • Janette Fishell, professor of music (organ); chair, Department of Organ
  • Sung-Mi Im, lecturer in music (chamber music)
  • Mark Kaplan, professor of music (violin)
  • Konrad Strauss, professor of music (audio engineering and sound production)
  • Elzbieta Szmyt, professor of music (harp); chair, Department of Harp
