Ruth Boshkoff Scholarship
Ruth Boshkoff is a nationally recognized composer and music educator. Ruth received her Bachelor's degree in Organ from Oberlin College and a Master's degree in Music Education from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She is certified in both Kodály and Orff from Indiana University, and has completed advanced work in both methods. At the St. Charles School in Bloomington, she taught younger children for 22 years in the curriculum that she developed. In 1998, she was awarded the Outstanding Educator Award by the Organization of American Kodály Educators in New Orleans, which is presented to those who have made excellent contributions to Kodály based education in scholarship, musicianship, and teaching.
Ruth Boshkoff has generously given her time and talents to the Indiana University Children's Choir (IUCC) over the years, serving as teacher, choral conductor, arranger, composer, and overall Program Director. Her patient work with her beloved "Trebles" and other choristers and staff of the IUCC has nurtured and inspired many budding young musicians. Her advocacy for quality vocal music education for all children has helped to shape the IUCC into the organization it is today. The donors of the Ruth Boshkoff Scholarship wish to honor Ruth in establishing this scholarship in her name.
The Ruth Boshkoff Scholarship is used to support scholarships for students enrolled in the IUCC.
