Peter and Monika Kroener Dean's International Fellowship in Music
Peter H. Kroener is a graduate of the Indiana University Kelley School of Business, where he received both of his MBA and doctoral degrees. Hailing from Germany, he was able to study in the United States by receiving a Fulbright Scholarship while he was a student of Business Administration at the Free University of Berlin. Kroener has also finished the prestigious Corporate Traineeship (Stammhauslehre) at Siemens AG in Berlin graduating with a summa cum laude diploma. After an extensive career of over 28 years with Siemens AG in Germany and the United States, Kroener joined Crown Management LLC, an international consulting firm, as its Chairman of the Board and CEO in January 2003.
Prior to his work with Siemens, Kroener was a member of IU's Faculty, and taught Accounting at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at the Kelley School of Business and in Indianapolis. He has continued to lecture at Columbia University, Washington University, and UCLA. At IU, Kroener is a member of the Indiana University International Business Forum, the Dean's Advisory Council of the Indiana University Kelley School of Business, and the Jacobs School of Music Dean's Global Advisory Council. Having served on the Board of the Jacobs School's Friends of Music for several years, he is now a member of the Emeritus Board.
Monika H. Kroener holds an MBA and a doctorate from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business, where she also taught Marketing Management. Prior to studying in the United States, Kroener studied Economics at the University of Basel in Switzerland and the Free University of Berlin. During her time in Bloomington, she founded Crown Management Bloomington, Inc. in 1979, which developed into a diversified international consulting firm specializing in strategic and marketing analysis, economic development, and real estate investments and management. Crown Management helps companies in Europe to enter or expand in the United States, and also assists US firms in European activities.
Kroener has also served as vice Chair and Director of the Indiana University International Business Forum, Vice Chair of the Bloomington Public Transportation Corporation, and President of the USA International Harp Competition. Kroener has served on the Jacobs School of Music Dean's Global Advisory Council, the IU Foundation Board's International Committee, the Jacobs School's Emeritus Board of the Friends of Music as president, and the Board of the Society of the Institute for Advanced Study.
The Jacobs School of Music is proud to award the Peter and Monika Kroener Dean's International Fellowship in Music to a graduate instrumentalist or vocalist at the Jacobs School who is European and is a native German-speaker. This Fellowship is based upon academic and professional merit, independent of financial need.
