Vincent Carbone is an academic specialist and managing director of orchestras and instrumental ensembles at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. With extensive experience in orchestra operations, artistic administration, and education, he has held various positions at arts organizations across the country.

Carbone most recently was manager of arts center operations at Choate Rosemary Hall in Connecticut, where he supported the Arts Department’s full range of teaching activities across music, theater, visual arts, and dance. He also was responsible for the planning and implementation of guest artist presentations and collaborations.

Prior to Choate, Carbone worked as a production manager at Yale University, focused on supporting the performance and education activities of faculty-led cocurricular projects with the Yale Baroque Opera Project and Yale Dance Lab. He joined Yale after serving as the lead COVID safety manager for the Tony Award-winning musical Dear Evan Hansen during the relaunch of its Broadway and national touring productions.

Carbone spent five years as assistant director of artistic programs at Carnegie Hall, managing the National Youth Orchestra program (NYO-USA, NYO2, and NYO Jazz) and other preprofessional programs, including SongStudio led by Renée Fleming and Joyce DiDonato’s annual set of master classes. He also planned master classes with visiting orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic and Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and a chamber music workshop with violinist Janine Jansen.

Carbone has also held positions with The Philadelphia Orchestra, Lexington Philharmonic, Alabama Symphony Orchestra, Music of the Baroque, Gilmore International Piano Festival, and the Aspen Music Festival and School.

Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Carbone began his career with the Grand Rapids Symphony while still in high school. He holds a bachelor’s degree in performing arts management from DePaul University School of Music in Chicago and is pursuing an Executive Master of Nonprofit Administration from the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame.
