BLOOMINGTON, Ind. –The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music is pleased to announce the release of “David Diamond: Symphony No. 6, Rounds for String Orchestra, and Romeo and Juliet” May 11 on Naxos Records.

The CD features Jacobs professor Arthur Fagen conducting the IU Philharmonic Orchestra in the world-premiere recording of American composer Diamond’s Symphony No. 6, as well as leading the IU Chamber Orchestra in Diamond’s “Rounds for String Orchestra” and “Romeo and Juliet.”

Konrad Strauss, chair of the Jacobs department of audio engineering and sound production, produced the disc, while Jacobs professor Jamie Tagg engineered, assisted by audio students.

Symphony No. 6 was recorded in the Jacobs School of Music’s Musical Arts Center in December 2015. “Rounds for String Orchestra” and “Romeo and Juliet” were recorded in the school’s Auer Hall in February 2016.

“I’m extremely proud of Maestro Fagen and the IU orchestras for taking on such a challenging recording project,” said Strauss. “This disc gives the Jacobs School an opportunity to showcase our outstanding artistry for an international audience. Preparing and recording such difficult material has been a superb learning experience for our students, and I couldn’t be happier with the result.”
