BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Seven faculty members of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music have been chosen to receive the IU Trustees’ Teaching Award for the 2017-18 academic year.
This year, faculty whose status was full-time tenure probationary or non-tenure track probationary were invited to apply for the $2,500 award, which is based on evidence of outstanding teaching during their time at Jacobs.
The school’s 2018 award recipients are:
Vincent Carr, associate professor of music (organ)
Frank Diaz, associate professor of music (music education)
Jane Dutton, associate professor of music (voice)
Petar Jankovic, lecturer in music (guitar)
Carla Körbes, associate professor of music (ballet)
Jason Nam, assistant professor of music (bands)
Lauren Kapalka Richerme, assistant professor of music (music education)
The criteria considered by the five-member ad hoc selection committee included student evaluations, faculty activity reports, innovations in teaching, course and curriculum development, teaching publications and presentations, student achievements, service related to teaching and peer observations.
“We place extremely high value on excellent teaching at the Jacobs School,” said Lissa May, associate dean for instruction, “so it is a true pleasure to be able to give awards to our deserving young faculty.”
