Mildred F. Yoder Scholarship
Mildred (Millie) F. Yoder was born in Kansas, where she lived most of her life. After graduating, and then teaching grade school for four years, she married Elwood C. Yoder, an officer of Citizen State Bank in Cheney, Kansas. They were married for over fifty years and had two sons: Neil is a staff physicist at the IU Cyclotron, while Bill is a software specialist in California. They also have four grandchildren.
While in Kansas, Mrs. Yoder enjoyed volunteer work in her church and community, including the Wesley Hospital and Hospice in Wichita.
Mrs. Yoder's love of music and young people led her to a career of teaching music for many years. Over the years, she has had a strong interest in helping young people reach their goals in higher education, especially music. Mrs. Yoder, who recently moved to Bloomington, established this scholarship in 1998. It is awarded annually to organ majors at the IU Jacobs School of Music.
