Joanne E. Passet Ph.D. & Deborah S. Wehman DPM Friends of Music Scholarship
This scholarship, established by Joanne E. Passet Ph.D. & Deborah S. Wehman DPM, provides scholarship support for students enrolled in the IU Jacobs School of Music.
Joanne Passet worked for the Indiana University Archives and various departments of the I.U. Libraries before completing her doctorate in library and information science in 1988. Her deepening interest in women's history took her to the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the 1990s, where she completed a second doctorate, this time in U.S. history. She spent the remainder of her teaching career at Indiana University East, in Richmond, where she also served as dean of Humanities and Societies before retiring as emerita professor of history.
Deborah Wehman graduated from the Dr. William School College of Podiatric Medicine in 1985 had a successful podiatry practice in Richmond for 25 years. After retirement, Drs. Passet and Wehman moved to Bloomington and by chance, on a cold winter’s day, attended the first of many Jacobs School of music performances. They fell in love with the music school and have been Jacobs’ supporters since that time, but they also support WFIU and WTIU, the IU Theater Circle. They are impressed with I.U.’s desire to provide the highest quality music education possible and are happy to see students benefit from their philanthropy.
