Peter Steed Moench Scholarship
Peter Steed Moench was born the third of four children to Louis and Deborah Moench on February 8, 1982. Peter was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he graduated from Skyline High School before pursuing his chosen career at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. He earned his Baccalaureate degree in cello performance, and was working towards his masters degree at the time of his death. While at Indiana University, Peter served as Principal Cellist in the Concert Orchestra. During his youth, Peter won a blue ribbon at the Utah State Fair string competition and played in the Monench Family string quartet.
Each year the Jacobs School of Music is honored to award the Peter Steed Moench Scholarship to students majoring in a string instrument with preference given to those from Utah.
