Linda Challis Gill and Jack M. Gill Music Scholarship Fund
A native of Texas, Jack M. Gill worked his way through nine years of college. he completed an engineering degree from Lamar University in 1958 and a Ph.D. degree in organic chemistry from Indiana University in 1962. Following careers as a scientist, entrepreneur, and a corporate executive, he then founded a leading high-tech venture capital firm. Mr. Gill continues to teach and lecture throughout the United States, Europe and Asia on business and technical issues and is currently a member of the IU Dean's Advisory Boards of the School of Business and the College of Arts and Sciences.
Linda Challis Gill is a native of Kentucky and a 1962 graduate of the University of Kentucky. After teaching school, she spent nine years at American Airlines as a flight attendant and in public relations. While raising twins, she volunteered in the Palo Alto school system where she served as president of the Parent-Teacher Association and was involved in coaching and student counseling. She spent 18 years as a docent and volunteer at the Stanford Medical School. She is also a board member for the University of Houston School of Music. The Gill family is committed to giving back to the educational system which has provided them with so many opportunities.
Established in 1996, the Linda Challis Gill and Jack M. Gill Scholarship is awarded annually to a piano or string student enrolled at the IU Jacobs School of Music.
