Jeannette Davis Scholarship Fund
Born February 26, 1895 in Lizton, Indiana, Jeannette Davis received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Classical Language and Literature from Indiana University in 1921. While a student at IU, she was a member of the French Club and the Spanish Club. After graduating, she went to work in San Francisco as a private secretary for Great Western Power Company of California.
The Jeannette Davis Scholarship Fund was established by Miss Davis's estate in 1982. In her will, she specified her wishes that the income of the fund be used to provide scholarships to students of classical music at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Preference is given to classical music students who are also members of the university orchestra, and/or students majoring in vocal performance or orchestra.
