T.F. and Emma A. Culver Scholarship Fund
(est. 1995) Timothy Franklin Culver (1866-1938) was a farmer and raised livestock in Clinton County, Indiana. He owned two farms in Washington Township of Clinton County. Born in Clinton County, Emma A. Jacobs Culver (1870-1948) married T.F. in October of 1895. The Culvers had two children, including their daughter, Margaret. Margaret Culver Miller was born in 1904 in Clinton County. She graduated from Washington Township High School in 1923 and went on to study at the John Herron School of Art in Indianapolis. In 1931 she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Indiana University and was a member of the first group of IU Jacobs School of Music students to study abroad in Munich, Germany in 1929. Mrs. Miller taught music and art at Jefferson Elementary and High Schools from 1927 to 1937. In 1937 she became an instructor in the art and design department in the School of Home Economics at Purdue University. She received a Master of Arts degree from Columbia University in 1941.
Through a bequest in 1993, Mrs. Miller established this scholarship fund in memory of her parents, Timothy Franklin and Emma Ann Culver. The T.F. and Emma Culver Scholarship is awarded annually to piano students at the IU Jacobs School of Music.
