Singing Hoosiers Travel Fund
The Singing Hoosiers Travel Fund was established in order to support any regional and/or international travel expenses associated with the singing Hoosiers in the Jacobs School of Music.
The IU Singing Hoosiers have a long tradition of excellence in the contemporary vocal music ranging from The Great American Songbook, jazz, Broadway, to the hits of today. The ensemble averages 86 student singers and instrumentalists from the IU Jacobs School of Music as well as the overall university student body.
Originally the ensemble began as a men's choir ensemble in the 1950's with 50 members. Soon after, female voices were added, and the ensemble has steadily grown since then. Today, the Singing Hoosiers have performed for millions in 26 states and in 18 countries in Europe, Australia, Asia, and the Caribbean. Annually, the Singing Hoosiers travel and perform several concerts "on the road" as well as at home on the campus of IU Bloomington, including the Chimes of Christmas concert in December and the Annual Spring Concert in April. They also perform at Big 10 athletic events.
