Stephen Pratt Retirement Performance Commission Fund
The Stephen Pratt Retirement Performance Commission Fund was established to honor Stephen W. Pratt's retirement from the Jacobs School of Music after 34 years of distinguished teaching, music making, and leadership.
Stephen W. Pratt has been a member of the Jacobs School of Music faculty since 1984, where he served as Professor of Wind Conducting, Director of Bands and Wind Conducting, and Conductor of the Wind Ensemble. Pratt is in demand as a guest conductor and clinician of bands and orchestras across the nation.
In 1993, he was a national recipient of the Distinguished Service to Music Medal awarded by Kappa Kappa Psi. In 1998, he was honored with the Outstanding Bandmaster Award by the Gamma chapter of Phi Beta Mu. In 2001, he was honored with the Outstanding University Music Educator Award, given by the Indiana Music Educators Association. In 2014, he was awarded the James B. Calvert Outstanding Music Educator Award.
The Stephen Pratt Retirement Performance Commission Fund will be used to support the commission and composition of a musical piece in honor of his retirement after his decades of dedication to the Jacobs School and its students.
