The Elizabeth Burnham Music Instrument Maintenance Fund
Elizabeth Burnham was born in 1916 in Mexia, Texas, and grew up on a farm. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin at the bright age of 16 where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. In Bloomington, Burnham worked in the IU Anatomy and Physiology Department assisting with brain stem research.
During her time in Bloomington, which spanned nearly four decades, she attended many concerts and recitals at the Jacobs School of Music. She established The Elizabeth Burnham Music Instrument Maintenance Fund as she understood the importance of ongoing, professional maintenance of performance instruments.
The Jacobs School of Music is grateful to Elizabeth Burnham for realizing the need of maintaining professional performance instruments, and creating this generous gift to the Jacobs School of Music.
