Carol A. Wingler Memorial Fellowship Fund
In 1994, Ross Wingler established a memorial fellowship in honor of his wife, Carol A. Wingler. At the time of her death, at age 51, the Winglers had been married almost 34 years. They met at Indiana University, where Mrs. Wingler was studying music, and were married at Beck Chapel on the Bloomington campus. After their marriage, Mrs. Wingler discontinued her formal studies to support her husband. However, she remained a student of music all her life, excelling in violin and piano.
To honor her lifelong devotion to music and to allow others to know of her special giving nature, the Carol A. Wingler Memorial Fellowship Fund was established as a living tribute to her. The Winglers' sons, Mark A. and Matthew A., as well as many relatives and friends of the family, have contributed to this fund. In 1995, Mrs. Wingler's grand piano was also donated to the IU Jacobs School of Music.
The Carol A. Wingler Memorial Fellowship is awarded each year to an outstanding graduate student with preference to women candidates at the IU Jacobs School of Music.
