Biography
Chi Wang is assistant professor of music in composition: electronic and computer music at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
She was previously an instructor at the University of Oregon, where she earned a D.M.A. in the performance of data-driven instruments. This emerging field combines composition, sound design, and performance of electronic music using repurposed game controllers and unusual custom-built instruments.
Wang has performed her compositions at high-profile electronic music gatherings such as the International Computer Music Conference, where she won the Best Piece (Americas) award in 2018; national conferences of the Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States, where her composition “Peony Garden” was voted by the membership to appear on the 2018 conference CD; New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival; and many others.
She is also a translator into Chinese of many important texts on electroacoustic music.
