The Latin American Music Center at Indiana University announces
the results of the
Second Latin American Music Recording Competition 2012
(15th Annual LAMC Competition)
Winner:
Daniel Inamorato (piano), student of Arnaldo Cohen, for his performance of “Frevo,” No 5 from Ciclo nordestino No. 4, Op. 43 (1977) and Nazarethiana Op. 2 (1960) by Marlos Nobre (Brazil, born 1939); As três Marias (1939) by Heitor Villa-Lobos (Brazil, 1887-1959); Prelúdio Op. 32 in F# minor (1940) by Eduardo Dutra (Brazil, 1908-1964?); and Sonata breve (1948) by Oscar Lorenzo Fernández (Brazil, 1897-1948).
GRAND PRIZE
Inamorato will record a professionally edited, fully produced CD and will also perform in the winner’s concert on March 8, 2012, at 8 p.m., in Auer Hall. His CD project focuses on solo piano works from the past hundred years by Brazilian and Mexican composers. In addition to the Brazilian works performed in the competition, the CD will include a selection of six Preludios and Estudios composed between 2002 and 2012 by Mexican composer Gabriela Ortiz (born 1964), as well as the piece Danza del Parque de las Acacias, written by Indiana University Jacobs School of Music composition student José Francisco Cortes Álvarez (Mexico, born 1983) and dedicated to Daniel Inamorato.

Erol Ozsever (guitar), student of Ernesto Bitetti, who performed works by Sérgio Assad (Brazil, born 1952), Agustín Barrios Mangoré (Paraguay, 1885-1944), and Leo Brouwer (Cuba, born 1939);
Rodrigo Almeida and Daniel Duarte Duo (guitars), both students of Ernesto Bitetti, who performed works by Astor Piazzolla (Argentina, 1921-1992), Radamés Gnattali (Brazil, 1906-1988), and Paulo Belinatti (Brazil, born 1956);
and
Sergio Anders (countertenor), student of Paul Elliott, who performed works by Claudio Santoro (Brazil, 1919-1989), Oscar Lorenzo Fernández (Brazil, 1897-1948), Ronaldo Miranda (Brazil, born 1948), Helza Camêu (Brazil, 1903-1995), Marlos Nobre (Brazil, born 1939), Waldemar Henrique (Brazil, 1905-1995), and Ernani Braga (Brazil, 1888-1948).
