The Jacobs School of Music has one of the major programs in instrumental conducting in the nation. A select number of students pursue master's or doctoral degrees in instrumental conducting with IU's internationally known faculty members in this area.

Graduates of the program hold key positions as assistant conductors or conductors in Dallas, Atlanta, Kansas City, Colorado, Winnipeg, and Freiburg and Wuppertal, Germany, among other places.
