Whether you’re hoping to spend your career playing the guitar or sharing your expertise with others, we have a program that will help you achieve your goals.
We offer academic programs at every level, from bachelor’s to doctoral. No matter what degree you choose to pursue, you’ll study with faculty dedicated to helping you achieve your personal best, learn with a small group of peers who share your passion in your studio, and perform on the stages of some of the best facilities available at the college level.
As a student in the Jacobs guitar department, you’ll be mentored by top musicians committed to nurturing you and helping you to grow and learn in a healthy atmosphere. You’ll receive personal attention, with at least one hour-long individual lesson each week, as well as a weekly performance/master class.
In addition to the full-time faculty, a different teaching artist-in-residence, from among the greatest performing guitarists in the world, will join the curricula each semester.

Most of our academic programs have performance requirements built in.
Perform on a regular basis in one of our guitar ensembles, or choose to perform as part of one of the dozens of other bands, chamber music ensembles, or choirs currently playing at Jacobs.
Whether you’ve been playing the guitar for years, or you’ve never picked up a guitar before, we offer classes to help you nurture your passion.
