CD RELEASE: To celebrate Valentine’s Day, the Latin American Music Center is releasing Romance: A Collection of Latin Love Songs with celebrated Grammy-award winning vocalist Sylvia McNair. Radio station WFIU will broadcast "Latin Love Songs" featuring a selection of songs from the CD with host Sylvia McNair on Monday, February 13, at 7 p.m. (EST).
Announcement: The winner of the SECOND LATIN AMERICAN MUSIC RECORDING COMPETITION has been announced. Click here for the details. The Latin American Popular Music Ensemble and El Taller performed music from their new CD Paisaje Urbano. The concert was scheduled for 8:00pm on November, 30th at Auer Hall, and serveed as the official release for the new CD. Duke Goes Latin: Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra in a program of Ellington Compositions done Latin style, Saturday Feb. 18 at 8pm at the Music Center at Strathmore. Look for Kyle Gann's article on Cuban-American Composer Orlando Jacinto Garcia in the Jan.-Feb. 2012 issue of Chamber Music Magazine. Orlando Jacinto Garcia was one of the guest composer's of the LAMC's 50th Anniversary conference last October. The Centro Mexicano para la Música y las Artes Sonoras celebrates five years of activity.
