Participant Tuition: $450
Non-Refundable Registration Fee: $70
Parking Pass (for those NOT staying in the dorm): $20
On-Campus Housing in Willkie Dorm (optional): $50 per night (Includes linens and towels, does not include meals)*
*Any nights stayed in Willkie not indicated and paid for on the online registration will be charged directly to the participant (at the time of their stay) with a 12% additional tax.

  • The application fee of $70.00 is non-refundable and not part of tuition.
  • No scholarships or financial aid awards are available for this program.
  • Late applications will be accepted on the basis of available space.
  • Tuition includes a temporary computer account.
  • There is a $200.00 cancellation fee for refunded tuition (this includes the $70 non-refundable registration fee).

Graduate Credit

Optional: Three hours of graduate credit are available. For credit hour and other associated fees, click HERE. Credit hour fees and associated fees are a separate and additional cost to the workshop tuition. A bill for the additional fees will be sent from the Office of the Bursar. Please do not include them with payment for the workshop.

Check-in will take place on Monday, July 16, 2018 from 8:00-9:00AM in Clouse's Lounge, which is on the ground floor of Merrill Hall. See Map.

The workshop will conclude at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2018.

Books and Materials

Students will pay for any materials purchased through the Smithsonian Folkways Institution website in order to complete fianl projects. For inquiries, contact Katy Strand:

The Jacobs School of Music reserves the right to cancel a workshop if enrollment is not met. Participants will be informed 1 month before the start of the workshop and receive a full refund.
