Brookelyn Wood is adjunct lecturer in music in bands at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she is head coach of the IU RedStepper Dance Team.
She started dance training at a young age in Greenwood, Indiana, at The Dance Refinery, where she learned many styles of dance while focusing on jazz, hip-hop, and acro dance. She also has a strong pom background through school and competitive cheerleading.
After high school, Wood continued her dance career at Purdue University, where she was a four-year member of the Golduster Dance Team, a pom-jazz team that performs with the Purdue All-American Marching Band. After college, she joined the Indianapolis Colts Cheerleaders, where she danced for four years and was a captain for two of them. With Colts Cheer, she traveled and performed in Honduras, Hong Kong, and London.
Over the past six years, Wood has introduced the RedSteppers to more technical training and professional travel, such as participating in Pro Action Dance Combine. She also led the team to a national championship in 2024.
