TJ Vculek recently obtained a master's at the New England Conservatory under the guidance of Richard Svoboda, principal bassoonist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He is also a proud alumnus of the Jacobs School of Music where he received his bachelor’s under the instruction of retired bassoon professor, William Ludwig. Before his return to Jacobs, TJ worked at IU’s School of Public Health as their Graduate Recruitment and Student Engagement Coordinator.
Presently, TJ is pursuing a Doctorate in Higher Education and Student Affairs at Indiana University to better advocate and support the current and prospective student body.
Aside from his administrative duties, T.J. is also a bluegrass enthusiast who plays the banjo and mandolin. He had the privilege of premiering Blender, by Ryan Fraley, on banjo and bassoon, at Carnegie Hall in July 2017. Classically, he continues to perform with premier groups all throughout the state and country – Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Massachusetts Opera Company, Rock E’ Bassoon, and Bloomington Symphony.
