Technology Requirements

All activities will take place using Zoom video conferencing software. Zoom sessions will be initiated from Indiana University, so you do not need to purchase a subscription to Zoom. Zoom can be accessed via computer, laptop, tablet, or smart phone.

Internet Connection

A strong, stable internet connection is required for best results with audio and video. Check your internet speed and strength at speedtest.net. Recommended speeds are 20 mbps (download) and 10 mbps (upload). Lower speeds can produce poor video and audio. If needed, consider upgrading your wifi router or connecting directly to the router using an Ethernet cable.

Headphones

Some people choose to use headphones while using Zoom. Standard headphones or earbuds work fine; it is not necessary to buy special headphones.

Microphones

In most cases the microphone on your computer, tablet, or phone will do just fine. Some may choose to use an external microphone with an audio interface to improve sound. It is also possible to use a digital audio recorder, such as Zoom recorders, as an external mic. However, it is not required that you purchase an external microphone.
