Biography
Stephen Komer is a PhD candidate in music theory at Indiana University. Stephen has taught music theory and aural skills at all levels of the undergraduate music curriculum as an Associate Instructor since starting his PhD. Originally from Chesterfield, MI, Stephen received a degree in piano performance from Oakland University in Rochester, MI and an MM in Music Theory from Indiana University. His dissertation hopes to use theories of mode to analyze the music of Josquin, but Stephen’s research interests extend into the Baroque music and popular music realms as well. In his spare time, Stephen enjoys coin collecting, playing squash, and rock climbing.
