Biography

Patricia Brooks Havranek has taught voice at Indiana University since 1992. Her former students have performed at the Metropolitan Opera, Sacramento Opera, Minnesota Opera, the Britten-Pears Festival, the Kennedy Center, and with Chanticleer and the Soldiers Chorus of the United States Army. Additionally, her students have participated in young artists programs, including those at the Santa Fe Opera, the Ezio Pinza Council for American Singers of Opera, Minnesota Opera, Central City Opera, Sarasota Opera, Brevard, Fort Worth Opera, and Ash Lawn Opera Festival.

As well as performing, a number of her students have become successful music faculty members at universities throughout the U.S., including Florida State University, the University of Hawaii at Manoa, the Cincinnati Conservatory Preparatory Program, the University of Oklahoma, Ithaca College, the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire, Delta State University, and Western Washington University.

Mezzo-soprano Havranek has sung with such notable organizations as the Cleveland Opera, New Orleans Opera Association, the Kennedy Center, Berkshire Festival, Ohio Light Opera, Nashville Opera, Pittsburgh Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Portland Symphony, Milwaukee Symphony, New Orleans Symphony, Baton Rouge Symphony, and the National Symphony of Mexico. She also taught voice at Tulane University, Loyola University, and Louisiana State University.
