Fall 2020 Practice Room Schedule
Practice reservations are made based on a 75-minute block of time, assuming use of the room for 50 minutes and a 25-minute period of rest with the room empty. A student who has been assigned consecutive blocks of practice time is allowed to practice during the noted rest periods between their consecutive time blocks, vacating the room at the end of the final assigned 50-minute block.

Rules for Practice Rooms
- Be prepared to show Crimson Card when requested during room checks.
- Practice rooms are for individual practice. No more than one person using a practice room at a time.
- Do not open rooms for others. Do not ask someone to open a locked room for you.
- Food is prohibited from being in standard practice rooms. Bottled water is permitted.
- Covering practice room windows is prohibited.
- Do not put anything on piano lids other than sheet music, tablets, and metronome devices. There are no exceptions.
Students in violation of any of these rules will be charged $30.00 per infraction. Instances of infraction will be documented, and the participant in violation must forfeit their key for a two-week period, immediately upon request. If a second infraction occurs within the same semester, student will be expelled from the Practice Room Program for the remainder of that semester.
Offenses are documented and submitted to the JSoM Executive Associate Dean for review, which may result in possible loss of locked piano practice room privileges.
- Shared Responsibility Expectations: Health/Safety and Time Usage
- Wash hands or use hand sanitizer upon entry and exit of practice room.
- Clean practice space before and after practice sessions following details on posted signage and provided video/reading, where available.
- While in practice room, mask wearing is required for non-wind/brass/voice students.
- Each practice session is allotted 50 minutes. At the end of the 50-minute time, students will clean and sanitize space, and then promptly vacate the room to allow the space a 25-minute rest before the next reservation.
- Shared Authority: If you discover that another student is in violation of any rule listed above, you may submit a confidential written complaint to the Scheduling Office (musched@indiana.edu).
- Keys: Practice room keys are authorized by the Scheduling Office and are issued by the Music Facilities office. All JSoM key contract terms apply regarding replacement of lost or stolen keys, and replacement of corresponding lock cores.
- Reporting Damage: Report all infractions to the Scheduling Office (musched@indiana.edu).

- Ifa piano is damaged, the participant responsible will be fined and billed through their bursar account. If it cannot be determined who caused the damage, then all students who have access to that room for that semester will share the cost associated. Those responsible will incur a bursar hold. Fines will be assessed in amounts up to:
- $5,500 for beverage or liquid spills
- $500 for finish scratching or chipping
- $500 for other damage on keys or finish
- $600 for removal/theft of artist bench
