Application must include:
- application and payment forms
- $70 application fee
- a DVD or CD-Rom with two contrasting pieces, or contrasting movements from the same piece; a three octave scale with 4 notes slurred/bow; and the three octave scale spicatto with every note played three times.
- a letter of recommendation.

Please Note:
- The $70.00 application fee is non-refundable and
not part of tuition. All applications must include application fee.
- Late applications will be accepted on the basis of available space.
- Tuition includes a temporary computer account.
- REFUNDS: There is a $270.00 cancellation fee for refunded tuition. Tuition refunds are not guaranteed after the academy has begun and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Scholarships
Financial Aid:
- Please download the application from "Forms" in the left menu.
- Financial Aid applications are due March 1, 2010.
- The highest amount of a need-based award to Summer String Academy is 10% of tuition.
- Financial aid may be awarded to families who have a total family income under $50,000 per year for summer programs.
- To be eligible for a scholarship based on financial need, you must be an American citizen or lawful permanent resident.
- Students applying for need-based financial aid must complete all parts of the Financial Aid Application Form (download from "Forms" in the left menu) and submit it with the $10.00 processing fee.
- The student's parents must also attach a copy of their most recent IRS 1040 or 1040A income tax form, with copies of W2 forms attached.
- Failure to answer any part and or to provide necessary signatures will disqualify the applicant from consideration. All information is kept in strict confidence.
Artistic Merit Scholarship:
- Artistic Merit Scholarship applications are due May 31, 2010.

Travel
- All students who are arriving unattended by an adult at the Indianapolis International Airport must travel between the airport and residence hall by limousine service. Exceptions cannot be made to this policy.

Housing
String Academy students who stay on campus will be housed in the Forest Residence Center in a double room (with roommate). It has air conditioning and coin-operated laundry facilities available for personal use. Three meals are served daily. Televisions are not allowed in individual rooms. Adult counselors are resident in the dorm.

Staying Off-Campus
- String Academy students may choose to stay off campus with a parent or guardian.
Click on "Visiting" in the left menu for travel information and list of accommodations in Bloomington.
- Students staying off-campus cannot buy meal cards. If they wish to eat meals with the in-house students they will have to pay with cash or credit card for each meal.
- Off-campus students under age 18 are the responsibility of the established legal guardian. A drop-off and collect time has to be settled in advance with our staff. The agreed drop-off and collect time should be convenient to the daily schedule.
- Transportation to the Indiana University campus is the responsibility of the designated legal guardian.
- At no time can a student under age 18 be dropped on the Indiana University campus and left unattended. The student must be handed-off from the legal guardian to a String Academy counselor.

The Jacobs School of Music reserves the
right to cancel a workshop if enrollment is not met. Participants
will be informed 2 weeks before the start of the workshop and
receive a full refund.
