Objectives
The Jacobs Pre-College Guitar Program is designed to establish a strong musical and technical foundation for playing. The guitar program aims to contribute to the development of discipline, good habits of mind, and socialization in every student. The teaching method is very effective, with students already playing after the first lesson. Students will master the fundamentals that allow them the skills to perform any type of music, join a variety of ensembles or even pursue studies at the collegiate level.
Beginning students will acquire basic technique using familiar tunes that correspond to their age. Intermediate level students will establish a repertoire in Latin American, Spanish and classical guitar styles, as well as learn and create fingerpicking arrangements of popular tunes.
Students will be taught:
Music fundamentals through classical, folk, and popular repertoire
