Steven Cohen Professor of Clarinet, Northwestern University The former principal clarinetist with the Louisiana Philharmonic from 1975 until 2004, where he was also a frequent concerto soloist, Mr. Cohen is also the principal clarinet and concerto soloist with the summer orchestra of the Brevard Music Center, where he has been engaged since 1979. He has toured in the U.S. as principal clarinet with the Texas Opera Theater and throughout Europe as principal clarinet with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. Since moving to Chicago in 2005 Mr. Cohen has performed with the Chicago Symphony, the Chicago Lyric Opera, the Music of the Baroque Orchestra and the Ars Viva Symphony. Mr. Cohen is a former clarinet faculty member at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and Louisiana State University. Steve Cohen is an artist/clinician for Buffet clarinets and a Légère reed artist.
Eric P. Mandat Professor of Clarinet, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale In addition to teaching clarinet and graduate analysis courses at Carbondale, Mr. Mandat is an active composer and he performs frequently throughout the United States and abroad as a soloist and chamber musician. His solo programs feature new American music and extended performance techniques. As a chamber musician he performs with the Transatlantic Trio, the Tone Road Ramblers, and with the Chicago Symphony’s MusicNOW contemporary chamber music series. He is the recipient of 2000 and 2005 Illinois Arts Council Artist Fellowships for Composition and his music has been performed throughout the world. Eric Mandat is the recipient of the 1999 SIU, Carbondale Outstanding Scholar Award. Randy Salman, Professor of Clarinet and Saxophone, DePauw University An accomplished performer of both jazz and classical music, Mr. Salman has performed with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra and Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, as well as with David Baker, Gunther Schuller, Tony Bennett, Joe Williams, Clark Terry, Louis Bellson and many others. Mr. Salman has performed at conferences of the International Association of Jazz Educators and is a faculty member of the Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshops. The Director of Jazz Studies at DePauw University, Randy Salman is also a member of the Faculty Woodwind Quintet and the Faculty Jazz Ensemble. |
