Teaching Men to SingThis Vocal Performance and Teaching Workshop is a guide to the successful development of Tenor, Baritone and Bass Voices. Topics will include vocal function, vocal acoustics, performance anxiety, and teaching traditions, and will cover new ways of changing physical actions through understanding of Motor Learning Theory. Dates: June 8-13, 2009 Clarinet Performance WorkshopAudition required. Work with three international performers/teachers in a hands-on approach to clarinet performance in today’s world, through a combination of master classes, group lessons and private lessons. Dates: June 12-16, 2009 Summer Kodály InstituteThis two-week institute offers musicianship and pedagogical training based on the methodology of Zoltán Kodály. This year Levels I, II, and III will be offered. Four hours of graduate credit available. Dates: June 15-26, 2009 Natural Horn WorkshopThis workshop is open to professionals, students, teachers, and advanced amateurs interested in the natural horn. The schedule includes daily master classes, ensemble sessions, and lectures, as well as two private lessons during the week and an informal concert. Dates: June 15-20, 2009 Ballet Summer Intensive for Dancers and ChoreographersThis course will give both ballet dancers and choreographers a chance to study with a world class faculty in professional ballet facilities, and develop new ideas for choreography in both a studio setting and on stage. The two weeks will be devoted to working on the development of the dancers’ ballet technique and the choreographers’ vision and creative range of movement. Dates: Session I, June 15-20, 2009; Session II, June 22-27, 2009. Summer Percussion WorkshopThis intensive 6-day event will include master classes, clinics, and performances presented by internationally-renowned performers. Sessions will cover audition techniques, chamber music, sight reading, orchestral timpani and percussion, marimba, drum set, accessories, world percussion, career development, and much more. Dates: July 19-25, 2009 Retreat for Violin and Viola TeachersThis summer program gives string players and teachers the opportunity to participate in an intensive String Academy Pedagogy Workshop. Retreats will include lectures, demonstrations, and opportunities to observe master teachers in the Indiana University String Academy and world-renowned guest artists. Participants in The Retreat for Violin and Viola Teachers also have the opportunity to apply workshop principles through private lessons and master class performance opportunities. Dates: July 22-28, 2009 Fearless Audition Training for MusiciansThis workshop is open to professionals, students, and teachers interested in becoming fearless performers. During this four day seminar, participants will learn ‘fearless tools’ which build consistency in performing optimally in any situation. Training will take place in the environment that holds the most potential for a fearful experience – an audition! Dates: August 16-21, 2009 Summer Opera WorkshopThis workshop is open only to incoming, current and alumni IU Jacobs School of Music singers who need to learn their stage-craft and gain more confidence as singing actors. The workshop includes three days of exercises in acting and in stage movement and deportment followed by intensive rehearsals of the assigned scenes. Each singer will be involved in at least two scenes portraying contrasting character types. Dates: June 3-21, 2009 The Art of Playing the PianoIn 10 sessions, Evelyne Brancart will share her concept of playing the piano through all the different aspects of Technique: Kinesthetic, Physical, Mental, Aural and Tactile.
