T109 Hearing III

  1. Rhythm: Prepare rhythms on p. 88B, nos. 400-404 and p.106E, nos. 414-418 (conduct or tap and "ta"). Your AI will choose one of the above from each of the pages. You will then have to execute one unknown rhythm.    ---   5 points each, for a total of 15 points.

  2. Sonorities: Practice identifying and arpeggiating all five qualities, using the words "root," third," and "fifth" ("seventh" if a Mm7 chord). Your AI will play four sonorities. After each, you are to identify the quality (Major, minor, augmented, diminished, or Mm7), then arpeggiate each using the above method (on chord member names).      ---     2.5 points each, for a total of 10 points.

  3. Pitch Patterns: Prepare the pitch patterns on the handout, singing on SCALE DEGREES! Your AI will choose two of the patterns for you to sing ON SCALE DEGREES in the hearing. You may use your own sheet.     ---     5 points each, for a total of 10 points.

  1. Prepared Singing: Prepare the melodies on the handout. The melody MUST be sung on SCALE DEGREES and you MAY NOT use your own sheet for this part.     ---    10 points.

  1. Sightsinging: Sightsing one short unknown melody. This may be sung whatever way you wish (on "la", "do re mi", etc.).      ---     5 points.

Total points = 50
