JACOBS SCHOOL OPENS NEW SEASON NEXT MONTH

MACThe Indiana University Jacobs School of Music will continue its tradition of welcoming the world's most illustrious musicians—both in residence and as guests—and presenting new and legendary music when it kicks off its 2007–2008 season next month. The season will open on September 8 at the MAC with David Effron conducting the IU Philharmonic featuring André Watts as piano soloist. Click here for more>>

JEFF NELSEN REJOINS CANADIAN BRASS

Jeff NelsenHornist Jeff Nelsen has rejoined the world famous Canadian Brass and will continue to teach at IU full-time while touring with the ensemble. Nelsen was previously a member of the quintet from 2000 to 2004. His re-appointment to the group continues a long tradition in the Jacobs School in which faculty maintain a significant link to the world of international performance. Click here for more >>

BAKER PLACE BUILDING AND ART GALLERY DEDICATED

David BakerBaker Place building and art gallery, named in honor of Distinguished Professor and Indiana Living Legend David Baker, was dedicated on July 23, 2007. The building, located in the heart of the Bloomington Entertainment and Arts District, displays artwork for sale by regional artists, and its upstairs has been renovated into a three-bedroom rental condo.  Click here for more >>

Andre WattsThe countdown to another outstanding year of performances from the Jacobs School of Music has begun! Pianist André Watts will be the featured soloist with the IU Philharmonic, under the direction of David Effron, when the exciting new Jacobs season begins on September 8. Don’t miss Uriel Segal conducting the season debut of the IU Chamber Orchestra on September 19, and get your tickets early for the curtain-raiser of the IU Opera Theater season, Verdi’s ever-popular Rigoletto, September 21, 22, 28, and 29.
