BAKER RECEIVES LIVING JAZZ LEGEND AWARD

David Baker Distinguished Professor David N. Baker received the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts' Living Jazz Legend Award for lifetime achievement on March 3, 2007, in Washington, DC, along with such jazz luminaries as Dave Brubeck, Al Jarreau, Dame Cleo Laine, Wynton Marsalis, and Marian McPartland. IU WIND ENSEMBLE FEATURED AT NATIONAL WIND BAND CONVENTION

IU Wind Ensemble The Indiana University Wind Ensemble, directed and conducted by Stephen W. Pratt, has been invited to perform the opening concert of the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) on March 28 in Ann Arbor, MI. The ensemble was selected following a rigorous screening process by a distinguished panel of musicians.

IU OPERA AND BALLET THEATER 2007–2008 SEASON ANNOUNCED

NME Indiana University Opera and Ballet Theater, which has staged a number of world premiere performances in recent years, will add to its list of firsts during its 2007–2008 season, announced March 5. The upcoming season at the IU Jacobs School of Music features the nation's first collegiate performance of the opera A Wedding by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer William Bolcom, who has commissioned IU Opera Theater for two previous collegiate premieres.
