IU PHILHARMONIC MOVES FEAST TO IU SOUTHEAST

IU Philharmonic The IU Philharmonic Orchestra, the premier orchestral ensemble of the IU Jacobs School of Music, continues its participation in Indiana University’s Moveable Feast of the Arts initiative on January 27 at 7:30pm at IU Southeast. The performance will take place at the Paul Ogle Cultural and Community Center. With faculty conductor David Effron at the helm, the repertoire includes Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring and Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 4. The winner of the Jacobs School of Music piano concerto competition will be the soloist for the Rachmaninoff concerto. Click for more >>

ADDITIONAL EVENTS

Jeffrey Hass The Jacobs School has awakened from its “long winter’s nap” and continues spring semester activities tonight, with a recital by the Trombone Faculty in Auer Hall and a performance of Jeffrey Hass’s Grow/Move/Change in the Ruth N. Halls Theatre. Concentus and the IU Children’s Choir join forces on January 13, and mezzo-soprano Marietta Simpson is in faculty recital on the 14 th. Don’t miss the Dubinsky Memorial Concert on January 21, and mark your calendars now for the IU Philharmonic Orchestra as it begins its Bloomington spring schedule on January 24, and for IU Opera Theater’s double-bill production of Arlecchino and Too Many Sopranos on February 2, 3, 9, and 10. This is only the beginning of a semester filled with operatic, orchestral, chamber, choral, jazz, and band performances, plus so much more!
