JACOBS WELCOMES JEFF NELSEN TO FACULTY

With an already impressive and growing international career as a virtuoso performer, teacher, pedagogue and musical commentator, hornist Jeff Nelsen has been appointed Associate Professor of Music at the IU Jacobs School of Music. ORION QUARTET AND IU PHILHARMONIC PERFORMANCES

Orion QuartetAlexander KerrEnjoy two distinguished Jacobs ensembles as they give us even more to celebrate during this particularly festive month. The renowned Orion String Quartet, Jacobs quartet-in-residence, returns December 4 and 5 for a performance on the fourth and master classes each day. Click for concert info >> The IU Philharmonic Orchestra, featuring faculty violinist Alexander Kerr, kicks off its triad of December performances on the seventh at the MAC, performing the program it will present December 18 in Fort Wayne and December 19 in Chicago. DENK AND ORPHEUS CHAMBER ORCHESTRA PLAY BACH AND HARKTE

Jeremy DenkJacobs alumnus Jeremy Denk, MM'93, whose piano playing has been described as "effortlessly virtuosic and utterly joyous" by the New York Times, will return to Bloomington this Sunday, December 3, when he joins the acclaimed Orpheus Chamber Orchestra as soloist at 8pm in the IU Auditorium. ADDITIONAL EVENTS

Jean BreezeIn addition to Nutcracker performances this weekend, the Orion String Quartet on December 4, and the IU Philharmonic Orchestra, featuring Alexander Kerr, on December 7, there is still plenty to enjoy before the holiday break. This weekend also showcases the University Chorale on Saturday, while Mary Goetze conducts the International Vocal Ensemble on Sunday, with very special guest Jean 'Binta' Breeze. Vocal harmonies continue later that day with the All-Campus Choir, followed by the Symphonic Choir joining the Chamber Orchestra, as well as into the week, with the Contemporary Vocal Ensemble on December 4, the Motet Choir on December 5, and the Singing Hoosiers in The Chimes of Christmas; on December 6. Start celebrating the season now, with Jacobs!
