LEONARD SLATKIN TO JOIN JACOBS FACULTY

Orion QuartetFollowing a number of guest appearances at the IU Summer Music Festival, internationally recognized American conductor Leonard Slatkin has decided to make the IU Jacobs School of Music his academic home, beginning his involvement with residencies in 2007-2008. Click here for more >>

ORION QUARTET & INDIANAPOLIS SYMPHONY PERFORMANCES

Orion Quartet Early November boasts the return of two elite ensembles to the Jacobs School of Music: the virtuosic Orion String Quartet on November 5 and the distinguished Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, with Jacobs faculty soloists Jaime Laredo and Sharon Robinson, on November 12. DALLAS “BACK HOME AGAIN” IN BLOOMINGTON

MET AuditionsSoprano Lorna Dallas, Jacobs alumna and musical theatre star, will give a free and open-to-the-public performance of The Great American Songbook on Sunday, November 5, at 3pm in the IU Auditorium. The concert, titled “Back Home Again in Indiana” and featuring pianist Jason Carr, will be her gift to the university and the community. An opportunity will be given to the audience to contribute in support of the IUI Jacobs School of Music.

MET AuditionsHurry to see Manon, if you haven’t already, during its final weekend in the MAC: featuring Miss Indiana, Betsy Uschkrat, and Jacobs alumna Maija Currie in the title role. Enjoy the remainder of October with Octubafest, continuing tonight through All Hallow’s Eve at 7pm in Ford-Crawford Hall. Watch the drama unfold as the region’s best voice students face off Saturday afternoon when the fiercely competitive Metropolitan Opera Auditions begin. String Academy students strut their stuff in their anSnual Halloween Concert on Saturday, and Sunday features cellist Emilio Colón with The Percussion Plus Project in recital, as well as the provocative rhythms of the Percussion and Hand Drumming Ensembles.
