BAROQUE DANCE AT BUSKIRK-CHUMLEY THEATER

New York Baroque Dance CompanyThe New York Baroque Dance Company’s two-week residency at the Jacobs School of Music will culminate with a performance with the IU Baroque Orchestra, under the direction of IU violin professor Stanley Ritchie, on April 2 at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater in downtown Bloomington. The program includes works of Baroque composers Rebel and Geminiani, and the one-act Rameau opera/ballet Pygmalion.

UPCOMING EVENTS

John GouwensGet set to go “From Bournonville to Balanchine” with IU Ballet Theater’s Spring Ballet tonight and tomorrow night in the MAC. The Chamber Orchestra performs March 26, followed by the Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and guest recital by violist Paul Coletti March 27. Choose from three great concerts the evening of March 28 when the Composition Recital, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Combo all take the stage. David Effron conducts the IU Philharmonic Orchestra March 29, and the Latin American Popular Music Ensemble is in concert with percussionist and conductor Andrew Lazaro March 30. March 31 serves up three more treats with Kozi Suzuki and Yumiko Doi in guest recital, Alternance in guest recital, and the University Singers under the baton of Jan Harrington. And, you certainly won’t want to miss the guest recital by John Gouwens, carillon, or the Singing Hoosiers’ Spring Concert April 1, before the New York Baroque Dance Company joins the IU Baroque Orchestra April 2. As usual, these are just some highlights of the tremendous Jacobs School offerings!
