Circling Around: The Violin Virtuosi will premiere on more than 200 public television stations throughout the United States beginning March 2006. The documentary, produced by RIAX in association with WTIU, follows the extraordinary life-journey taken by talented and dedicated young violinists from the IU Jacobs School of Music String Academy, directed by Mimi Zweig. |

After eminent soprano and recent faculty recruit Carol Vaness begins a series of master classes January 15, scholar and concert pianist Charles Rosen guests in the Patten Lecture series January 17-19. The gorgeous strains of Emile Naoumoff's piano will fill Auer Hall January 14, with Edmund Battersby’s graceful style to follow on January 20. Elisabeth Wright’s harpsichord will grace the hall January 21. Don’t miss Twyla Robinson and Edwin Penhorwood January 22 or Paul and Jonathan Biss on the 24th. The IU Philharmonic Orchestra kicks off its semester January 25 with works by Rachmaninoff and Shostakovich. Click for information on these and many other musical delights. |
