END-OF-SUMMER TRAVELS

Take a trip through three spectacular musical landscapes as the 2005 IU Summer Music Festival concludes.

Join internationally acclaimed conductor Leonard Slatkin and the Summer Festival Orchestra (Thursday, August 4) for an evening of Shostakovich’s “Leningrad” symphony and IU Professor Claude Baker’s “Shadows.” Set sail on the “H.M.S. Pinafore,” with IU Opera Theater as they perform one of Gilbert and Sullivan’s most beloved and hilarious works. And, finally, travel “From Harlem to Hollywood” (Saturday, August 13) as David Baker directs the legendary Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra.

This edition celebrates the accomplishments of Lawrence Hurst, Daniel Perantoni, The IU Tuba Quartet, Steve Dombrowski, William Petersen, Brian Kiser, Andrew Tucker, Kevin Sanders, Alex Lappins, Richard White, and others.
