THE SUMMER FESTIVAL CONTINUES!

On the heels of the Beaux Arts Trio 50th anniversary celebration, the IU Summer Music Festival continues to offer a series of spectacular events.

Enjoy a powerful performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 with Roberto Abbado conducting the Festival Orchestra, Festival Chorus, and soloists this Thursday (8pm.) Or bask in the brass with the versatile Saint Louis Brass Quintet, July 26. The quintet will play a children’s matinee (3pm) performance followed by an evening concert (8pm.) Top it off with the uplifting music and wonderful wit of Gilbert and Sullivan in IU Opera Theater’s production of H.M.S. Pinafore, opening Friday July 29th!

Other showcase events to look forward to this summer include the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, the final Festival Orchestra concert under the direction Leonard Slatkin.
