Attendance and Arrival Time

  • Good attendance and being timely for class is an important factor in each student's progress. Students must be present and on time for all classes and rehearsals. Students should arrive at the MAC at least 10 minutes before their scheduled class time to allow for proper preparation for class.

  • Late students will be allowed to take class only with the teacher's permission. Repeated lateness and/or absence may result in class change to a lower level.

All children and parents must use the stage entrance and the large elevator when entering and leaving the MAC.

Do I need to escort my child?

Due to University Safety Policies, students must be escorted to and from their assigned studio for all classes and rehearsals.

The Program suggests that all children wear appropriate clothing over their leotard and tights to travel to and from the ballet studio.

What about picking up my child?

Parents/Guardians must be on time to pick up their children.  Parents are asked to arrange an exact area in the Ballet Department to meet their child.

What should I do with the safety and media release forms?

Each parent/guardian must download and complete both forms and turn them into the Pre-College Ballet Office (MAC 308) by Saturday, September 7, 2013.  They are found in "How to Apply" in the left menu.

Should I stay during class time?

It is highly advised that parents/guardians with children under the age of 12 remain in the MAC for the duration of their children's class time.

What are the rules for behavior?

Disorderly conduct is not allowed in the MAC since there are academic classes, rehearsals, and performances occurring during Pre-College class times.  Children are expected to bring a quiet activity with them to occupy themselves while waiting before or after classes/rehearsals.

When is the best time for parents to visit?

Parent Visitation weeks during Fall 2013 are October 7-12, 2013 and November 11-16, 2013.  It is highly recommended that parents/guardians plan to watch the progress of their child during Parent Visitation Weeks.  Parent Visitation Weeks are clearly outlined on the Calendar of this site.
