Latin American Recording Competition
The Latin American Music Center is happy to announce the final round for our third Annual Latin American Recording Competition, which will take place on Sunday, January, 27 2012, at 4:00pm in Auer Hall. This event is free and open to the general public.
The LAMC is very thankful for all the entries received from students interested in participating. All entries received were of the highest quality, and after carefully reviewing the projects proposals, the LAMC’s competition selection committee has decided that the following participants (in no particular order) will continue to the FINAL round:
- Huyen Khanh Do, pianist (student of Emile Naoumoff)
- Nicholas Mariscal, cellist (student of Eric Kim)
- Guitar Duo Villa with Daniel Duarte and Rodrigo Almeida, (students of Ernesto Bitetti).
We invite the entire IU community to be part of this Third Annual Recording competition.
Una Serenata Mexicana
The Latin American Music Center (LAMC), together with the Latin American Popular Music Ensemble (LAPME) are proud to present its third annual Latin Valentine concert. This February 14th, come celebrate love and friendship listening to a romantic serenade with the most beautiful Mexican Music of all times. The LAMC is extremely happy to have as guest artist the IU-String Academy Chamber Orchestra, and guest conductor Daniel Stein. The LAPME will be directed by Guido Sanchez and Espen Jensen. This concert will feature all new arrangements by Mexican composer Jose Francisco Cortes-Alvarez, and Brazilian percussionist Bruno Cabrera. Also as special guest we will have tenor Francisco Ortega from Ecuador, baritone Bruno Sandes from Brazil and soprano Yuri Rodriguez from Costa Rica.
Do not miss this event which promises to be an unforgettable night! This event is free and open to the public holding tickets. (Make sure you pick up the tickets 2 hours before the event at the Waldron Arts Center).
El Centro de Música Latinoamericana (LAMC), junto al Ensamble de Música Latinoamericana (LAPME) se enorgullecen en presentar su tercer concierto anual “A Latin Valentine”. Este 14 de Febrero, vengan y celebren el amor y la amistad con una romántica serenata de la música Mexicana mas hermosa de todos los tiempos. El LAMC se siente muy feliz de poder presentar como artista invitado a la Orquesta de Cámara del IU- String Academy, y como director invitado a Daniel Stein. En este concierto presentaremos nuevos arreglos musicales escritos por el compositor mexicano Jose Francisco Cortes-Alvarez, y el percusionista brasilero Bruno Cabrera. También como invitados especiales tendremos al tenor ecuatoriano Francisco Ortega, al barítono brasilero Bruno Sandes, y a la soprano costarricenses Yuri Rodriguez.
No se pierdan este evento que promete ser una noche inolvidable. Este evento es gratis y abierto al público con tiquetes de entrada. (No olviden recoger sus tiquetes dos horas antes del evento en el Waldron Arts Center).
