The Latin American Popular Music Ensemble (LAPME) is conceived as a creative workshop in the context of ensemble practice. It explores original Latin American genres and performance practices through arranging and performing both popular and classical repertoire.

Experts in the field are regularly invited to coach with the ensemble. The ensemble presents one concert in at the School of Music every semester in addition to performances around the city and state in outreach concert and educational events.
